WOMEN’S HEALTHCARE

"We are here for you!"

Our medical services are aimed at
women of all ages.

fertisuisse – specialises in gynaecology and gynaecological endocrinology

We care for women of all ages at our locations. The need for medical consultation and medical treatment changes in the course of our lifetime. In the case of very young women, emphasis is on safe contraception against unwanted pregnancies and examining irregular or painful bleeding. Menstrual cycle and bleeding disorders can occur at any time in all women of childbearing age, which can significantly impede the quality of life and must be taken seriously. Healthcare and –health preservation play an important role before and after menopause. Furthermore, discomfort such as hot flashes and sleep disorders can arise during menopause. We would like to address your questions in a focussed manner during each of these important phases of life and compile a provision and treatment plan with you that meets your needs and wishes. You can contact us here. We look forward to meeting you.

Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory disease, which is caused by the uterine lining being located outside of the uterine cavity. Endometriosis can but does not have to be painful and the discomfort usually arises during menstruation. Endometriosis can also be a cause of infertility. Usually, a great deal of time lapses before endometriosis is recognized as such, which can be extremely frustrating for those concerned. Endometriosis can be treated surgically and/or with hormones. Particularly women who still want a child need to be careful and restraint is required when contemplating the surgical removal of endometriosis. In particular, repeated surgeries on the ovaries can severely compromise their functioning and can lead to premature menopause. A hormone treatment usually has a positive effect on the course of endometriosis.

Menstrual cycle and bleeding disorders

If menstruation does not occur, only occurs rarely or too often (menstrual cycle disorder), very heavily or painfully (bleeding disorders), examinations are advised to rule out serious causes and to treat the symptoms correctly and to your satisfaction. Bleeding which  occurs after menopause should always be examined.

PCO syndrome

Women with PCO syndrome (polycystic ovary syndrome) often have irregular cycles and tend to have increased hair growth and skin blemishes. This is because of an excessive production of male sex hormones (androgens), which can be treated. PCO syndrome is accompanied by an increased risk of diabetes, high blood pressure and other so-called diseases of affluence. Women with PCO syndrome need good medical care and must pay particular attention to their health.

Fertility reserve & social freezing

Today, eggs can be frozen using the vitrification process to postpone the desired pregnancy until a later time in life. For instance, this enables the freezing of eggs and sperm cells before a chemotherapy treatment in order to be able to have a child after recovering. Social freezing means freezing eggs „in advance“ at a young age because a woman’s fertility decreases the older she gets. Social freezing enables women to reconcile their plans for their personal life and their career plans with wanting a child and family planning.

Creating a fertility reserve should take place at a time when the quality of the eggs is good and the  pregnancy rate is therefore high. We recommend retrieval when the woman is in her mid-20s to early 30s. Creating a fertility reserve after the age of 40 is only advisable in a few limited circumstances. The objective is to freeze at least 20 eggs. In most cases, this number is achieved after two stimulation cycles; in the case of very young women, – between 20 and 25 years of age,  one cycle often suffices.

Cancer and wanting a child – Fertility reserve for medical reasons

If serious illnesses arise during the fertile years (for example cancer), for which therapy (chemotherapy, radiation or surgery) can be life-saving but can significantly disrupt fertility, a quick decision should be made as to whether or not eggs can be frozen beforehand. With the help of vitrification, unfertilised eggs can be preserved in a frozen state with extremely good survival rates to enable a pregnancy after successful therapy and a specific waiting period.

There are also benign disorders such as endometriosis which can have an impact on fertility. Women with severe endometriosis and women in need of fallopian tube surgery in particular should seek advice regarding the option of a fertility reserve.

Menopause

The last period (menopause) usually occurs around the age of 51 and most women do not regret this. However, hormone depletion, which occurs before and after menopause, can lead to a disruptive diminished quality of life. There are various treatments that can help relieve the symptoms. Due to a great deal of media reports, some of them contradictory, many women are unsure and have questions, which we are more than happy to answer. We will support you in finding the best solution.

Premature menopause

If menopause occurs before the age of 40, it is considered premature. Affected women are often overwhelmed by this diagnosis and have concerns as well as questions. The cause of premature menopause can rarely be determined. Young women should receive a hormone treatment in the case of premature menopause, to prevent osteoporosis (bone atrophy) and cardiovascular diseases and to restore their quality of life. We are happy to consult with you regarding any questions or wishes you have.

Osteoporosis

Bone growth and formation in men and women are, to a certain extent, dependent on sex hormones. Being underweight, lifestyle, osteoporosis in close relatives or premature menopause can increase the likelihood of developing osteoporosis. We are happy to consult with you in collaboration with specialists for bone diseases.

Contraception

The prevention of unwanted pregnancies is an important area in women’s healthcare. Contraception must be efficient, safe, inexpensive and convenient and entail minimal side effects and risks. Today, there are a multitude of different safe methods for people of all ages. We are happy to help you select the best method of contraception!

Contraception in risk situations

Some examples include a tendency to develop thrombosis, migraines, breast cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. There are many methods to efficiently prevent a pregnancy without taking any health risks. We can directly address any questions you may have in a personal meeting and create a prevention plan that complies with your needs and wishes. You can contact us here. We look forward to meeting you.

Sometimes, extremely young women avoid going to a gynaecologist –even though they have urgent questions or problems, fears and doubts. The efficient prevention of pregnancies is particularly important for women who are still in education. We would be happy to consult with you in an uncomplicated and confidential meeting and give you the help you need.
